Growth Program For Single Mothers
This program focuses on assisting single mothers with specific needs in raising their babies.
Many single mothers face challenges in raising their children due to a lack of income. A significant number of them come to us in dire health, often dealing with HIV. Netsanet firmly believes that poverty should not be a reason for separating families. When these mothers and children enter our Outreach Program, they are often homeless, and lacking the basics such as clothing, food, bedding, and shoes. In response, we provide them with fundamental living necessities such as, blankets, clothing, shoes, mattresses, sheets, soap, kitchen materials, and temporary assistance with rent and supplementary food.
After initial basic set up is completed, Netsanet’s dedicated social workers and staff begin the process to help these capable mothers create a path to independence. Recognizing that every situation is unique, we provide support based on the skill set of the individual mother. This may entail anything from helping these women find employment to offering microgrants in order to assist them in starting their own small businesses. Additionally, while the women are at their jobs or starting their new business, Netsanet will care for their children during the day. We are committed to ensuring the well-being of the baby.
Many of our mothers have successfully launched businesses, including coffee shops, bread baking, and sewing enterprises. These businesses not only contribute to their income but also empower them to support their families. To date, we have awarded over 300 microgrants, with an impressive 64% success rate in these business endeavors.
